Chapter 5 Communication Interface

RS232 Port
RS232 port (9-pin female connector) is built into the UPS rear panel. You can use the provided RS232
cable to connect the UPS with a computer and use the included CD to install the SMART2000 software
to check and monitor the UPS status via a computer.

RS232 port provides the following functions:
1. Monitor UPS status:
Load level, battery status, battery voltage, UPS mode, input voltage, input frequency, out-
put voltage, and unit inside temperature
2. Set shut-down delay time
3. Enable/ disable beep
4. Remote shut-down

Pin Assignment:
1. PIN 2: TXD <Transmitting Data>
2. PIN 3: RXD <Receiving Data>
3. PIN 5: GND <Signal Ground>

Hardware:
1. Baud Rate ……. 2400bps
2. Data Length ……8 bit
3. Stop Bit …………1 bit
4. Parity ……………None
NOTE:

ÚBefore you use the RS232 port, please make sure that you have removed a mini-size card from
the SMART slot. Do not use RS232 port and SMART slot at the same time.
Remote Control Port
This interface is for connection to a facility’s Remote Emergency Power Off (REPO) circuit. When the
UPS is connected to the REPO circuit, it enables emergency shutdown of the UPS and the UPS has
no output. Connect this remote control port to a user-supplied normally-closed or normally-open switch.
Please refer to Figure 5-a.

trol Port, and connect the port to a user-supplied normally-closed or normally-open switch.
